FL: Registered sex offender in line to be next small town city manager

The small town of Jay is set to appoint a convicted sex offender as its new town manager.

Current Town Manager Eric Seib has been working part time since September and on July 3 will officially retire from the position.

April Watson, who was made operations manager by unanimous vote of the Jay Town Council on the same night Seib stepped back from full time duty, is scheduled to become the next town manager, according to Jay Mayor Shon Owens.

“Nothing in the article about Mrs. Watson is new information, nor has the crime been excused. However, all penalties have been administered and met, and no disreputable conduct has been exhibited by Mrs. Watson since her release. During the years since, she has been active in civic and church groups, conscientiously contributing in every way she can to improve our town. She has worked at the Town of Jay for seven years and during that time she has been instrumental in conducting and overseeing town operations and demonstrated impeccable professionalism. Mrs. Watson’s dedication to our community is outstanding.”

Bravo. I’ve never seen politicians stand up for a PFR like this before. This is very brave.
